Mini Vacation Snapshots

Hey everyone! I just got back from my families annual trip to New Hampshire and although it was short, it was just nice to get away and sit on a beach! I did manage to vlog a bit while I was there and I took a bunch of pictures too so I wanted to share some with you! I didn't film my outfits but I did get pictures of them, but I'll do a separate post on just the outfits for those interested! I packed way too much by the way, I'm just not used to going away for such a short amount of time. Anyway, hope you're all having a great summer! Enjoy!

Best boardwalk french fries! (They tend to be more ketchup than fries though... :D Can't help it.)

Bright Lips for Summer!

Long story short, I've had this post in draft since March.... I know, who does that? Anyway there was a whole bunch of stuff in here about the weather, so it doesn't matter much now because it's July! I definitely won't be referring to specific dates and times anymore, unless I'm posting right then and there... Lesson learned.

So, it's time to start easing into the neon and bright trend. Besides incorporating it into your wardrobe, you can easily do a pop of color on your lips. When you're sporting a neutral eye, which the majority of us do everyday, it's super easy to add a bright lip because it won't clash with your makeup. It's also the easiest way to brighten up any look, especially when you're wearing a white tee and some jean shorts! There are so many options out there but here are a few of my favorites!
(I will be adding the rest of the swatches soon, and possibly adding more to the list!)

Left to right
Maybelline Coral Crush, Revlon Coral Berry, Revlon Siren, MAC Watch Me Simmer, MAC Viva Glam Gaga,
MAC Ever Hip, Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Punch

Target Beauty Bag 2012

Fresh out of the mailbox, I just received my Target Summer Beauty Bag! I thought I'd show you what was inside mine and share my first impressions. Let me know if you want to know more bout anything! Also, I don't think there's any more of these left, but to make sure you get the next one go "like" Target Style on Facebook to stay in the know!

The bag that everything came in is amazing quality! It's thicker than you would expect. It has a little padding to it and would make for not only a great little makeup bag but also a perfect camera bag. I'm really impressed by this bag!

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock is my ultimate Summer must have! It's the only sunscreen I use. I use SPF 45 and I love it!! It also came with a sample, upper right corner, of a Revlon lip butter and I love those too.

Samples of a new shampoo and conditioner.

It also came with a booklet of coupons for everything that was in the bag, plus L'Oreal, Pixi, Rimmel, CoverGirl and more!

Did you get your Beauty Bag yet? I wish there were less hair products and more beauty and makeup or nail products, but other than that I can't complain about free stuff right?

This dress is everywhere!

After watching the season premiere of Pretty Little Liras, which always has some of the most interesting fashion on television, I saw the preview for next week and spotted a dress on Aria that I've seen a couple times! I've actually seen the exact one she was wearing on Mads on an episode of The Lying Game. But, I've also seen it worn in white by Fiona in the killer season 5 finale of Burn Notice on USA. It's funny to me that two shows on the same network would use the same dress, although I'm sure Aria will be styling hers with some hideous boots so it won't look as good as Mads did. Regardless, this dress has received quite the publicity and become very popular. It's also not all that expensive, considering.

So, what dress am I talking about that's been all over television lately? This All Saints dress.  It's $180 but unless you're really tiny or a size 10, don't get too excited because the most popular sizes are sold out.. Wonder why? The more I see this though, the more I like it, so all the publicity it's getting or whatever you want to call it, is working!

As seen on Aria in Pretty Little Liars, Blood is the New Black

As seen on Mads in The Lying Game, Double Dibs.

As seen on Fiona in Burn Notice, Fail Safe Season 5 Finale

Thoughts on this dress?

As far as tv goes, Pretty Little Liars is back with a new season now on ABC on Tuesdays at 8pm. As for The Lying Game, apparently it's not set to return until January 2nd of 2013, which sounds ridiculous, but I have it on good authority. But fear not because, the much anticipated return of Burn Notice is right around the corner, June 14th to be exact! I can not even wait!! If you're not watching, you need to be!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains! (Sale alert!)

This is going to be a quick informative post, with a full review of this product with swatches to come. I'm also planning to do a video review on these too! I recently spotted the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains at Rite Aid a couple of weeks ago and picked one up instantly. Then, I saw them again at Target the other day and got another one. They were $8.99 at Rite Aid and under $8 at Target. However, this week, 5/27-6/2, Revlon eye, face, and lip cosmetics are 40% off! So, this would be the perfect opportunity to either pick one up to try, or grab a few at a great price!

Here are my initial thoughts on these.

-Comparable to Tarte LipSurgence
-Slight minty smell that doesn't last long
-Long lasting, leaves a stain
-Slight to no transfer even when drinking
-After 1-3 hours of wear it's still there but starts to dry out
-Not a moisturizing product after it's been on a while

Overall-- I like it! Definitely worth a try, especially if you like stains!

Here are a couple pictures of one of mine. Check back in the next couple days for more!

This is 025 Sweetheart Valentine

Have any of you tried these yet? Will you be running to Rite Aid tomorrow like me to get some more?

Red & Blue NOTD!

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Hope everyone is enjoying nice weather, spending time with your family and friends and doing something to remember what Memorial Day is all about. We're having some great weather and I spent the day at my cousins for a cookout to celebrate my Godson's birthday. Since I got out of work early yesterday I took the opportunity to paint my nails red and blue. I didn't do any crazy nail art or anything, I'll save that for the 4th of July maybe.

I used Zoya America on my toes, because well, it's called America and it's my favorite red. I used two coats. Then, I've been wanting to try out Nails Inc Baker Street ever since I bought it months ago but I just haven't put it on my nails for some reason. This polish has been hyped up for a while now, apparently Beyonce wore it? I really had no idea. I just kept seeing it on blogs and saw how amazing it was and I knew I needed it!

It's a flipping amazing blue! It's an electric blue but it's so wearable! Also, it's almost the exact color of the cool ranch Doritos bag :) lol. Anyway, it's creamy and dries shiny. For the pictures below I used two coats, my Orly bonder base coat and no top coat.

The only issue I found was that sometimes since it was so creamy, it was hard for me to get just the right amount of polish on the brush. Sometimes I'd have so much polish on the brush it would go all over my cuticles, this happened more when I was doing my right hand since I'm a righty. This could be because of the consistency of the polish or the fact that the brush is so long but the "handle" or top of the bottle that you use to paint your nails is just an odd shape for me that I'm not used to. So, this could just be user error, as in my bad, or just be something to be aware of with thicker creamier polishes. Make sure you have a steady hand and apply just the right amount, also shake well before applying. I also wrapped my tips on the first coat.

NOTD: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Buttercup

I can say with certainty that I've never worn yellow nail polish before this. I mean, maybe when I was little, but there hasn't been a time that I can remember when I have worn it, let's put it that way. Even though I do remember buying my first yellow nail polish (weird I know), my gram bought it for me at her hair dressers years and years ago so I'm sure I wore that, but I can't remember what it looked like on me. So, although I do own a handful of pastel and bright yellows, I never wear them. It's not one of those, goes with everything, or go to colors. Then when I finally went to put this on my nails my reaction was similar to, "Oh my, maybe I should take this off?" I just wasn't used to seeing yellow on my nails, and not to mention my pale skin. It's also worth noting that as I write this, it's been on my nails for a few days now and it's growing on me. So, I am glad that I didn't write this immediately after I put it on because otherwise my reaction would have been totally different.

After trying a couple other yellows first, I decided on Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Buttercup, it's one of the newer shades. It went on a little streaky and needed 3 coats, but it's a nice yellow if you're into that! I'm still trying to get into the whole yellow thing but it is a nice change.

I also thought about putting some glitter over the top of it, but then didn't because I thought I didn't need to draw any more attention to my nails. But, if I did add glitter I was thinking it would be gold and possibly Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Big Money!

Like I said I used 3 coats to get this color and I actually didn't put a top coat on. I'm pleasantly surprised at how shiny it is and also really surprised at how it's holding up. Even though I did use a base coat, Orly bonder, I figured since I used 3 coats it wouldn't last very long and could start to peel off. But, so far, I'm on day 4 and I barely have any tip wear!

What are your thoughts on yellow? It's definitely worth trying out if you've never ventured to the yellow side of nail polish!
