Tips & Trends to help you this Fall

Fall has always been and always will be my favorite season. Although we're not quite there yet, it is never too soon to be talking about the upcoming season to familiarize yourself with the trends. Just because it was seen on the runway and in all the magazines however, doesn't always mean it's right for you. This in between seasons is the perfect time to reevaluate yourself, your makeup and your wardrobe before you dive head first and potentially make the mistake of wearing something that just isn't you. There's nothing worse than trying to wear a beautiful outfit or bold lip, but rather than looking chic, you're not wearing the clothes, they're wearing you. So, although we are all loving many of the fall trends this season, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Use what you have. - Whenever there's a change of season I always switch out the majority of my wardrobe. The summer stuff goes back into hiding and all the chunky knits, sweaters and pants come back out. As I'm putting things back and taking other things out, I try things on, look over what I've purchased since the last season and try to give things away. You may have forgotten about that amazing jacket you shoved in the back of your closet last season, or that cute polka dot top that would be right on trend now. Taking the time to look at what you have before you go out and buy everything you see can save you a ton of money. This step can also help you see what you actually need. Maybe you lost some weight and need new pants, or you realized you had way too many graphic tees (which I am guilty of and am getting rid of a ton) and need more basics.

Transition last seasons favorites into this seasons layering pieces. - Fall is the perfect season because it's not too hot and not too cold, usually. It's the perfect chance to keep a few of your favorite summer dresses, bright jeans or neon tops in rotation. All you need to do is pair them with a neutral color like grey or brown and then add layers! Add leggings, tights, a cardigan and some combat boots to a floral dress and completely transform it. You can even try incorporating new fall trends with some summer trends. You just have to keep an open mind and try them out. If you're totally at a loss or just looking for some transition ideas, you need to watch this video!

Don't overdo it. - Just because someone says prints, lace and leather are hot, doesn't mean you're necessarily supposed to be wearing them all at once. Especially if you're new to the trends. Introduce bold trends into your wardrobe slowly, adding bits and pieces. See if you like what you see and then add some more. Even if you see celebrities wearing crazy prints or cut outs that you're loving, it may not be appropriate for your work or school environments. So, look for similar ideas or even DIY stuff that can fit your individual needs, style and personality.

It's called a trend for a reason. - Usually, trends don't last, which is why they're called trends.

We're always changing and so are the trends. You don't need to be a follower and you don't need to be a leader. But, if you wanted to be one, you could be. You can wear whatever you want and whatever makes you feel your best. You don't need to conform to anyone or any rules. It's fashion, it's supposed to be fun. You could be wearing the same exact thing as the person standing next to you and yet it could be styled in a completely different way. You could be having a terrible horrible very bad day, but that bright yellow top you decided to put on that makes people give you a second look would make people think otherwise. So since trends are always changing, as long as you know who you are, you can wear whatever you want. Gone are the days of fitting the mold of a certain type of person. Some days I want to dress up and other days a little rocker. I don't have one particular style, it's always changing and evolving.

Here are some Fall trends I think you should definitely consider
incorporating into your wardrobe ASAP.

Animal anything:
It can be in prints or it can be the entire animal. Pants, tees, shoes. There's an animal version out there for it I can assure you.

Printed & colored jeans:
There are so many new styles now beyond just floral like coated, polka dot, leather etc.

Jewel Tones & Statement Necklaces:
One doesn't really have a lot to do with the other, other than the fact that jewel is the beginning of jewelry... Collars have been really big lately, although I'm not loving them, they're different and unique. Statement necklaces in general are great pieces to have. They can make a plain outfit dressy or just make it pop with one simple step. The jewel tones of this season are emerald & sapphire. Jewel tones are always big in the Fall/Winter and I love them all.

Burgundy, everything:
Pants, accessories, purses, makeup and nails. Bold wine colored lips. There are numerous ways to incorporate this rich color, also being referred to in the fashion world as "Bordeaux" into your life.

Military:
You can never go wrong with a great army green utility jacket. If you already have that maybe you want to try a double-breasted coat or trying the color navy in something you already have. Add combat boots to any outfit or add subtle details like patches and bold buttons in the right places.

Leather details:
Although I'd love to wear an all leather anything, it's not practical for me, or most of us. So, there are great leather accents on tee shirts, leggings, and everything in between. Try mixing edgy with classy for a unique twist.

Let me know what your personal favorites are and how you be wearing them this season?

Vacation Outifits

I only went away for two nights and three days and although I only took my small Vera Bradley duffel, I still managed to overpack. I overestimated the amount of time we'd actually be there and the amount of clothing I'd really be wearing. 85% of the day I was in my bathing suit. I did wear two outfits one day though because after dinner it was really cool and we were going to the beach to watch the fireworks. I didn't want to wear my nice outfit so I went with my good old Hampton Beach sweatpants! (I didn't capture this outfit on film, I figured it wasn't necessary.) So, with that said, I only really have two outfits to show you. I really love them though! Hope you do too.

Necklace - Azure Triad Collar Necklace from Baublebar (comes in other colors too), Shirt- Fashion Star winning collection by Kara for H&M, Shorts - H&M,
White tank - VS Pink, Flip flops - Old Navy.
Hair- Air dried. Eye makeup - Mostly just L'Oreal infallible 24hr eyeshadow in 337 Endless Sea

I did something on this vacation that I never usually do which was pack some jewelry and accessories. My mom always did, just a few basics, but I never wanted to lose anything and never really cared honestly. But, this time around as I was packing and figuring out outfits, I realized I had so much jewelry that could make the outfit so much better! Truly, the right accessory can make or break an entire outfit. I usually find that my shoes, (those flip flops I always wear) don't help any of my outfits. But with jewelry especially, the possibilities are endless. You can make a bold statement or go dainty and delicate! I need to make a point of accessorizing more because I have a plethora of jewelry of all shapes, sizes, colors and styles that will go with any outfit if I just take that time to style them together!

Earrings - Sea Breeze Earrings Jewelmint, Jean Jacket - American Eagle (similar), Dress - H&M
Shoes - Target Metallic Merona Esma Sandal, Bag - Aldo, Sunglasses - Charming Charlie

I love this dress! I bought it a while back, maybe over a year ago, and this is the first time I'm wearing it! I know, that's bad, but I knew there would be a perfect time for a light weight dress, with a nautical feel. It has rope straps and ties at the waist and is super flattering! These Jewelmint earrings were the perfect match too. They're one of the original Jewelmint pieces I believe and they're always sold out. So when they were on sale a few months ago I had to finally pick them up before they were gone forever.

I am also currently obsessed with my nail polish. It's Maybelline Color Show in Orange Fix 220. I bought it new before I went away and was taking a bit of a risk trying a new formula on my toes going to the beach. My nail polish usually loses it's shine whenever I'm at the beach and it will sometimes begin to chip or at least give me some tip wear depending how long I'm there. It just kind of goes with the territory of sand and salt water. However I'm pleased to tell you that my polish is still going strong, and I can't stop looking at the color, over six days later. I did need a lot of coats though. Like A LOT. That's my one complaint. But the color is insane and perfect for summer. It's super bright, and almost neon. I used 4-5 coats with 2 top coats in between on my big toes and only two on the rest of my nails, although they could have used a third. If you don't mind seeing your nail line, minor imperfections or you have neither of those, then I wouldn't worry about piling this stuff on.

This dress is everywhere!

After watching the season premiere of Pretty Little Liras, which always has some of the most interesting fashion on television, I saw the preview for next week and spotted a dress on Aria that I've seen a couple times! I've actually seen the exact one she was wearing on Mads on an episode of The Lying Game. But, I've also seen it worn in white by Fiona in the killer season 5 finale of Burn Notice on USA. It's funny to me that two shows on the same network would use the same dress, although I'm sure Aria will be styling hers with some hideous boots so it won't look as good as Mads did. Regardless, this dress has received quite the publicity and become very popular. It's also not all that expensive, considering.

So, what dress am I talking about that's been all over television lately? This All Saints dress.  It's $180 but unless you're really tiny or a size 10, don't get too excited because the most popular sizes are sold out.. Wonder why? The more I see this though, the more I like it, so all the publicity it's getting or whatever you want to call it, is working!

As seen on Aria in Pretty Little Liars, Blood is the New Black

As seen on Mads in The Lying Game, Double Dibs.

As seen on Fiona in Burn Notice, Fail Safe Season 5 Finale

Thoughts on this dress?

As far as tv goes, Pretty Little Liars is back with a new season now on ABC on Tuesdays at 8pm. As for The Lying Game, apparently it's not set to return until January 2nd of 2013, which sounds ridiculous, but I have it on good authority. But fear not because, the much anticipated return of Burn Notice is right around the corner, June 14th to be exact! I can not even wait!! If you're not watching, you need to be!

KRMA Jade Jacket! An OOTD!

I recently ordered something I've been lusting over for a while now and as soon as it came I had to wear it and share it with you asap! It's the Jade leather jacket from KRMA. If you watch The Vampire Diaries then I'm sure you've noticed how a lot of the cast wears leather jackets; for a while it was a vampire thing, but now I have a theory it's like a letterman's jacket for people who kill someone, like once you have killed someone you get the honor of wearing some leather. Anyway, Katherine and Elena both wear KRMA jackets on the show, more frequently it's the Jade. Nina herself has also been spotted wearing the jacket on numerous occasions in various colors. It's always something I've wanted, I mean who doesn't want a black leather jacket? But, this one isn't an ordinary jacket. It's super chic and stylish and I'm so glad I finally got it!

Sale alert! Old Navy vest worn by celebrities.

I just wanted to do a quick post telling you about a deal I snagged today! Old Navy had a bunch of winter clothing and accessories on clearance and when I saw this I was super excited! I bought the Faux-Shearling Vest that I've seen on a few different celebrities. Since I knew I had seen it before on fashionable celebrities, I had to have it! To be honest it's not something I would have usually picked up but I'm really glad I did because it's different and I love it! There were a ton of them at my Old Navy and you can buy it online too, although it's cheaper in store. Originally, the vest was $49.94, but I was able to buy mine on sale for $14.99 and it's listed online right now for $21.97, which is still a great deal.

Here are the ladies wearing the vest!

So, here's where you can buy the faux-fur shearling vest online, or you can always check out your local Old Navy's! Have any of you picked this up when it first came out or recently?

Golden Globe Awards Best Dressed!

When ever there is an award show I usually watch. I have to say this award show in particular isn't all that exciting because a lot of the movies and shows that were nominated I've never even heard of, haven't seen or I don't watch. However, I do love seeing all the celebrities get together and sit at a dinner table with one another, it's so different. Anything can happen. Also, like any award show, it's a night of fashion. I usually watch the red carpet shows that start over an hour before the actual show begins. It's when all the critiquing begins and the best and worst dressed lists are started, right when the celebrities are getting out of their cars, how rude! Anyway, I love seeing what everyone is wearing, what they have to say when they win, what the good jokes of the night are and best of all seeing who wore the best dress! So, let's see what I thought.

In my opinion there were a few standout stars. As soon as I saw them it was clear to me, they would be on the best dressed lists for sure.

1. Reese Witherspoon in a red, fitted, Zac Posen. She looked effortlessly beautiful. The dress was perfect for her, she wore the perfect amount of jewelry and her hair and makeup was so simple and it worked so well.

OOTD: A fall day in Vermont!

The other day (actually a few weeks ago now by the time I'm posting this) my parents and I decided to take a drive to Vermont to get an apple pie. That's right, we went out of state to get an apple pie. Now, that's not the only reason we went; we went shopping and like to dive around there this time of year too, so don't go thinking we're crazy. We intended on going apple picking but the weather wasn't up to par so we ventured on a little road trip for the day, got and apple pie, hot apple cider, saw some great foliage and farm-life and went into my favorite antique shop! On the way home we got stuck in a bit of traffic but were amused because the truck in front of us was towing a llama; a surprisingly not too unusual sight to be seen when you're in that area believe it or not. Anyway, I just wanted to show you my outfit and the llama too I suppose!

Holiday style ideas!

It's never too early to start looking for outfit ideas for the holidays, after all there's only one week until Thanksgiving! After that, every other holiday is going to sneak up on us and we'll be looking in our closets as we usually do and say, "I have nothing to wear!" So, even though that's still a very likely statement for us all, I've compiled some of my favorite trends that would be perfect for the any celebration!

First up, here's a more casual, comfy look for everyone. This is more like something I'll be wearing for Thanksgiving I presume, although I haven't decided yet. I don't dress up on Thanksgiving, I don't even usually dress up for Christmas dinner, only for parties or church, but for our family dinners, an outfit like this is perfect! Jeans and/or jeggings are always a staple in my wardrobe as well but leggings may be more forgiving to stuff your face with more food :)

But, if you're looking for a more festive and fun look, say maybe for New Years Eve, I would definitely add some sequins, Ã  la Carly Cristman! This series of pictures is just that, just a bunch of items put together for your viewing pleasure, not a complete look obviously! This is just to show you that there's something out there for everyone, don't be afraid of the sparkle, everyone deserves to shine! I myself bought a sequin mini skirt from Marshalls the other day and can't wait to wear it! Pair it with all back, nude or grey tones, wear some tights or go crazy and wear a few glitter pieces together, there are no rules here, it's all fun and game!

Clutch: Nordstrom $20, Gold flats, black pumps Aldo $70
Silver ballet flats Aldo $25, Black Skirt Express $59.90
Nude skirt Aerie $49.50, Top Forever 21 $22.80

My final option is another more casual one, with a twist, colored denim and some animal print! There are so many ways you can wear colored jeans and now it's hard to find a store that doesn't carry a variety of colored jeans. You can wear them with all black or white and leave the jeans to speak for themselves, or color block. You can also throw in animal prints, which I like to think of as a neutral in their own regard. Leopard and cheetah prints go with anything! You can also think about adding a leather jacket and some studs for an added edge with those bright colors too!

Scarf Sears $19.94, Cardigan Forever 21 $27.80
Loafers Payless $26.99, Jeggings American Eagle $44.50

So, will you be sporting any of these looks over the holiday season? Looks like it's time to go shopping!

OOTD: A scarf, studs and no makeup.

To put it simply, accessories can make or break an outfit. Even having on one too many bangles on can ruin an outfit, well maybe you can't have too many bangles but you can definitely have too many rings on at one time. Accessories can make the simplest dress or t-shirt more appropriate for a special occasion, they can dress down an outfit, or they can just be fun to play with in our everyday wardrobe. Scarves are a great example. They are a great way to add a pop of color to a plain ensemble and since they can be warn a million different ways, they're never boring. Plus, they add warmth for the fall and winter, which is a total bonus, since most times we put style and fashion before our actual needs like staying warm or keeping our feet comfortable.

Anyway, today I opted to let the accessories do the talking because, one, I was kind of in a rush, and two I really wanted to wear my new scarf! So, I opted for no makeup, just tinted moisturizer, concealer and curled eyelashes, a loose fitted white tee, green cargo pants, and my new favorite shoes (not pictured, but they're in my last OOTD post). Then I added a scarf, some bracelets and some studs, literally and that was that, enjoy.

Sunglasses- Forever 21 (forever ago)

Tee- Target
Pants- Hang Ten from Kohl's

I'm obsessed with the colors and the pattern of this.

The others- H&M

I bought mine in a 3 pack, but these are probably the same

What's your favorite accessory to spice up an outfit?

OOTD: Fall is in the air!

I'm so happy to report that the first signs of fall have come my way, finally! Although there's still some rain we're dealing with along with the cooler weather, I'll deal for now because this coming week looks cool, crisp and dry! Yesterday morning it was raining and cold in the morning but the sun came out later on and it was a rather nice day. So, I went to school a little chilly and with rain boots on but came home and was pleased to change them immediately! Here's what I wore..

Green shirt: American Eagle
Jeggings: American Eagle
Shoes: Airwalk @ Payless  Hope Slip-On (Buy one, Give one)

First 3 bracelets from left to right: H&M
Purple Evil Eye: on vacation at Hampton Beach
Purple Studded one: Gifted from American Eagle
Single Bangle: Forever 21

What I love about Fall.

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

To be honest, I don't know if there's anything I don't like about fall. It's my favorite season, I only wish it was longer. I love the weather, the clothes we get to wear with that weather, the fall foliage, anything pumpkin (pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkins as decorations, carving pumpkins), apple picking, apple cider donuts, and my list could go on. I really love the colors of fall, the colors in nature, when all the leaves have changed and are falling on the ground and I love wearing those colors as well. Here are some visuals of some of my favorite fall things because, if you couldn't tell, I love this time of year.

Preview: Accessories from The Lying Game!

I love all the fashion on this show, but I particularly like Mads style. She reminds a little of Aria from Pretty Little Liars, a little more on the edgy side, only I feel like these girls only wear dresses. Anyway, this is from next weeks episode, Double Dibs, when Mads has a chat with her dad about the scuffle that happened at the father daughter dance. Clearly Mad's and here dad have had issues for a while and I'm sure there are way more to come, he seems pretty sketchy. But I'm here to talk about what she was wearing during this talk!

Vacation OOTD's!

Hey everyone! So I know I've been MIA lately but I just got back from a little vacation at the beach in New Hampshire and it was great! The weather was outstanding, I couldn't have asked for it to have been better and we all had a great time. So my first post back I thought I would compile a few of my outfits from the trip. They really aren't anything too special because when I'm on vacation I like to be pretty comfortable but I thought I would share anyways! I'll also have a video to go along with this very soon that has two little vlog stile videos attached to these OOTD's if you're interested! (The video will detail where each piece of clothing is from!) Now onto the outfits...

Loving Pippa's style!!

So, ever since the royal wedding, maybe even before that for some, we've become obsessed with Kate's sister Pippa. At first I didn't understand it, but now I get it. Think about it. She's beautiful, has gorgeous style and she's more available to the paparazzi than the royals, which is good for us, and she has more freedom. All that said I'm really here to discuss her style. I've been loving her outfits lately and some of them you would be surprised to find our are rather affordable and available to everyone. Then, for the impeccable outfit choices that are a little above our price range, their nice to look at and grab some inspiration from! If you ever see her wearing something you like, check Zara first!

So what do you think? Are you loving Pippa too? What are your favorite Pippa looks?

OOTD!

I've been loving the army green trend and have been dying to get my hands on some green skinny cargo pants and I finally found them! I was totally inspired by Minka Kelly and can't wait until it gets warm to wear them with some flip fops and a great pair of sun glasses, but for my outfit I only wore it inside for my birthday brunch so I was barefoot and didn't need the shades.

Tank top : Mossimo (Target) -my favorite ever!
Sweater : Croft & Barrow(Kohl's)
Pants: Hang Ten (Kohl's)
Belt :Wide Leather Belt (American Eagle)

I never really shop at Kohl's which makes this post rather weird seeing as the major parts of this outfit came from there. But it's always hit or miss for me when I go there so I just assume stay away. I like to browse to look at the Lauren Conrad collection, but it's not always the best quality, and it's on the pricer side which i don't understand. Anyway, I'm really glad I found the pants I was looking for! They said they were in limited quantity so you may have to check online too (check the links above),  but these style pants are everywhere this season so it's just a matter of finding the ones that work for you!

SALE! William Rast @ Target

Good News! If you didn't already know, Justin Timberlake recently extended his famous clothing line, William Rast, to be sold at Target stores, for a limited time starting on December 19th 2010. However, just recently it has gone on SALE, but only for a limited time and while supplies last. Whenever Target does their GO designers, that particular clothing line is only sold there for a certain amount of time, then it goes on sale and then it's gone. Knowing this, and being a shopaholic, I always try to get at least one thing from each designer. So now William Rast for Target is in it's final stages at target and it's currently 30%-50% off! I went out and purchased a few shirts from this line the day it came out because I love Justin Timberlake and was curious about William Rast for Target. There are both men and women's clothing in this collection and I think it's really unique for Target, and suggest you take a look! You can purchase online if you can't find the size your looking for at your Target, but either way, sooner rather than later, there won't be much to choose from as a new designer will take his place for spring.

Here's a few things I bought! (sorry about the quality, I took the pic on my phone) Most of them I won't be wearing until it gets warmer, but I'm glad I bought them for sure.

I also about this top the next day because my Target didn't have my size. http://tinyurl.com/4r23426
