Vacation Outifits

I only went away for two nights and three days and although I only took my small Vera Bradley duffel, I still managed to overpack. I overestimated the amount of time we'd actually be there and the amount of clothing I'd really be wearing. 85% of the day I was in my bathing suit. I did wear two outfits one day though because after dinner it was really cool and we were going to the beach to watch the fireworks. I didn't want to wear my nice outfit so I went with my good old Hampton Beach sweatpants! (I didn't capture this outfit on film, I figured it wasn't necessary.) So, with that said, I only really have two outfits to show you. I really love them though! Hope you do too.

Necklace - Azure Triad Collar Necklace from Baublebar (comes in other colors too), Shirt- Fashion Star winning collection by Kara for H&M, Shorts - H&M,
White tank - VS Pink, Flip flops - Old Navy.
Hair- Air dried. Eye makeup - Mostly just L'Oreal infallible 24hr eyeshadow in 337 Endless Sea

I did something on this vacation that I never usually do which was pack some jewelry and accessories. My mom always did, just a few basics, but I never wanted to lose anything and never really cared honestly. But, this time around as I was packing and figuring out outfits, I realized I had so much jewelry that could make the outfit so much better! Truly, the right accessory can make or break an entire outfit. I usually find that my shoes, (those flip flops I always wear) don't help any of my outfits. But with jewelry especially, the possibilities are endless. You can make a bold statement or go dainty and delicate! I need to make a point of accessorizing more because I have a plethora of jewelry of all shapes, sizes, colors and styles that will go with any outfit if I just take that time to style them together!

Earrings - Sea Breeze Earrings Jewelmint, Jean Jacket - American Eagle (similar), Dress - H&M
Shoes - Target Metallic Merona Esma Sandal, Bag - Aldo, Sunglasses - Charming Charlie

I love this dress! I bought it a while back, maybe over a year ago, and this is the first time I'm wearing it! I know, that's bad, but I knew there would be a perfect time for a light weight dress, with a nautical feel. It has rope straps and ties at the waist and is super flattering! These Jewelmint earrings were the perfect match too. They're one of the original Jewelmint pieces I believe and they're always sold out. So when they were on sale a few months ago I had to finally pick them up before they were gone forever.

I am also currently obsessed with my nail polish. It's Maybelline Color Show in Orange Fix 220. I bought it new before I went away and was taking a bit of a risk trying a new formula on my toes going to the beach. My nail polish usually loses it's shine whenever I'm at the beach and it will sometimes begin to chip or at least give me some tip wear depending how long I'm there. It just kind of goes with the territory of sand and salt water. However I'm pleased to tell you that my polish is still going strong, and I can't stop looking at the color, over six days later. I did need a lot of coats though. Like A LOT. That's my one complaint. But the color is insane and perfect for summer. It's super bright, and almost neon. I used 4-5 coats with 2 top coats in between on my big toes and only two on the rest of my nails, although they could have used a third. If you don't mind seeing your nail line, minor imperfections or you have neither of those, then I wouldn't worry about piling this stuff on.

KRMA Jade Jacket! An OOTD!

I recently ordered something I've been lusting over for a while now and as soon as it came I had to wear it and share it with you asap! It's the Jade leather jacket from KRMA. If you watch The Vampire Diaries then I'm sure you've noticed how a lot of the cast wears leather jackets; for a while it was a vampire thing, but now I have a theory it's like a letterman's jacket for people who kill someone, like once you have killed someone you get the honor of wearing some leather. Anyway, Katherine and Elena both wear KRMA jackets on the show, more frequently it's the Jade. Nina herself has also been spotted wearing the jacket on numerous occasions in various colors. It's always something I've wanted, I mean who doesn't want a black leather jacket? But, this one isn't an ordinary jacket. It's super chic and stylish and I'm so glad I finally got it!

Sale alert! Old Navy vest worn by celebrities.

I just wanted to do a quick post telling you about a deal I snagged today! Old Navy had a bunch of winter clothing and accessories on clearance and when I saw this I was super excited! I bought the Faux-Shearling Vest that I've seen on a few different celebrities. Since I knew I had seen it before on fashionable celebrities, I had to have it! To be honest it's not something I would have usually picked up but I'm really glad I did because it's different and I love it! There were a ton of them at my Old Navy and you can buy it online too, although it's cheaper in store. Originally, the vest was $49.94, but I was able to buy mine on sale for $14.99 and it's listed online right now for $21.97, which is still a great deal.

Here are the ladies wearing the vest!

So, here's where you can buy the faux-fur shearling vest online, or you can always check out your local Old Navy's! Have any of you picked this up when it first came out or recently?

OOTD: A fall day in Vermont!

The other day (actually a few weeks ago now by the time I'm posting this) my parents and I decided to take a drive to Vermont to get an apple pie. That's right, we went out of state to get an apple pie. Now, that's not the only reason we went; we went shopping and like to dive around there this time of year too, so don't go thinking we're crazy. We intended on going apple picking but the weather wasn't up to par so we ventured on a little road trip for the day, got and apple pie, hot apple cider, saw some great foliage and farm-life and went into my favorite antique shop! On the way home we got stuck in a bit of traffic but were amused because the truck in front of us was towing a llama; a surprisingly not too unusual sight to be seen when you're in that area believe it or not. Anyway, I just wanted to show you my outfit and the llama too I suppose!

OOTD: A scarf, studs and no makeup.

To put it simply, accessories can make or break an outfit. Even having on one too many bangles on can ruin an outfit, well maybe you can't have too many bangles but you can definitely have too many rings on at one time. Accessories can make the simplest dress or t-shirt more appropriate for a special occasion, they can dress down an outfit, or they can just be fun to play with in our everyday wardrobe. Scarves are a great example. They are a great way to add a pop of color to a plain ensemble and since they can be warn a million different ways, they're never boring. Plus, they add warmth for the fall and winter, which is a total bonus, since most times we put style and fashion before our actual needs like staying warm or keeping our feet comfortable.

Anyway, today I opted to let the accessories do the talking because, one, I was kind of in a rush, and two I really wanted to wear my new scarf! So, I opted for no makeup, just tinted moisturizer, concealer and curled eyelashes, a loose fitted white tee, green cargo pants, and my new favorite shoes (not pictured, but they're in my last OOTD post). Then I added a scarf, some bracelets and some studs, literally and that was that, enjoy.

Sunglasses- Forever 21 (forever ago)

Tee- Target
Pants- Hang Ten from Kohl's

I'm obsessed with the colors and the pattern of this.

The others- H&M

I bought mine in a 3 pack, but these are probably the same

What's your favorite accessory to spice up an outfit?

I'm so happy to report that the first signs of fall have come my way, finally! Although there's still some rain we're dealing with along with the cooler weather, I'll deal for now because this coming week looks cool, crisp and dry! Yesterday morning it was raining and cold in the morning but the sun came out later on and it was a rather nice day. A day at the Spaaa! An OOTD & more!

No, not that kind of spa, the "Spa" as in the Spa City, as in Saratoga, as in Saratoga Race Track! Have I lost you yet? If you're not familiar with what I'm talking about then hopefully you'll just enjoy the post for what it is. But, for those of you that are familiar with Saratoga Springs, NY and maybe have been to the Track will let me rave a bit! (Also, my new picture that I'm using as my blog header was taken at the track last year!)

Vacation OOTD's!

Hey everyone! So I know I've been MIA lately but I just got back from a little vacation at the beach in New Hampshire and it was great! The weather was outstanding, I couldn't have asked for it to have been better and we all had a great time. So my first post back I thought I would compile a few of my outfits from the trip. They really aren't anything too special because when I'm on vacation I like to be pretty comfortable but I thought I would share anyways! I'll also have a video to go along with this very soon that has two little vlog stile videos attached to these OOTD's if you're interested! (The video will detail where each piece of clothing is from!) Now onto the outfits...

DIY OOTD @ Yankee Stadium!

Today I wanted to show you a super easy way to make a plain crew neck t-shirt into a one of a kind off the shoulder cute t-shirt! It's super easy, inexpensive and I did it with a Yankee shirt because I was going to a Yankee game but clearly this could work for any shirt you have lying around.

First, I went out and bought a new shirt. Now if you know me at all you would know I don't need any new Yankee clothing for the rest of my life, however I don't want to chop up what I have and I usually buy something new for the game so I went shopping!  If you are going to a game and are going to do this I suggest doing what I did which was head to the clearance rack. I went to Dicks and they had a pretty good selection, I ended up buying more than just this actually. But, this way you're not spending a lot of money on something you're cutting up, especially since Major League sporting goods stuff can be pricey. You could also try TJ Maxx or some place like that.

Anyway, I also suggest getting either a size or two up from what you usually wear sine your going to wear it off the shoulder and you want it to be a little baggy. You can also go into the kids section and get a bigger size there, which could also save money. I think mine is a kids because it's a large and it fits pretty perfectly with the bagginess and I'm usually a small.

Now, here's how to do it. Basically all you'll need is the shirt and a pair of scissors. Now, I'm sure there are actual fabric cutting scissors and if you have them, then great, but it's really not necessary to go out and buy them just for this. If you're using regular scissors, it may be helpful to have a smaller pair with you as well for when you're done to clean up the edges, but again, only if you have them available.

Here's the shirt before.

This is how I made my first cut. I stuck the scissors directly below the ribbing and cut all the way around. Don't worry about it being perfect because you're going to cut a lot farther down but this is just the first cut as a guideline.

OOTD!

I've been loving the army green trend and have been dying to get my hands on some green skinny cargo pants and I finally found them! I was totally inspired by Minka Kelly and can't wait until it gets warm to wear them with some flip fops and a great pair of sun glasses, but for my outfit I only wore it inside for my birthday brunch so I was barefoot and didn't need the shades.

Tank top : Mossimo (Target) -my favorite ever!
Sweater : Croft & Barrow(Kohl's)
Pants: Hang Ten (Kohl's)
Belt :Wide Leather Belt (American Eagle)

I never really shop at Kohl's which makes this post rather weird seeing as the major parts of this outfit came from there. But it's always hit or miss for me when I go there so I just assume stay away. I like to browse to look at the Lauren Conrad collection, but it's not always the best quality, and it's on the pricer side which i don't understand. Anyway, I'm really glad I found the pants I was looking for! They said they were in limited quantity so you may have to check online too (check the links above),  but these style pants are everywhere this season so it's just a matter of finding the ones that work for you!
