Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadow Quads

Adding to my drugstore makeup addiction of late, I have another new makeup product to share with you. I think I now have a new product from just about every makeup company on my blog! Anyway, Revlon recently released 16 new eye shadow quads, in a variety of colors. Just like how I felt about the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush, that they may have been a replacement for the Dream Mousse Blush, I have a feeling these may be replacing the Revlon ColorStay 12 Hour Eyeshadows, though I'm not certain.

*I also want you all to know that this week (1/15-1/21) at Rite Aid, all Revlon eye cosmetics are 40% off! So, this would be a great time to pick up some of these! Thanks to G, over at Nouveau Cheap for always being in the know on the best deals! You should all do yourselves a favor and subscribe to her blog for the latest sales and new product sightings.

So, beyond a slight name change, these new ones claim to last an extra four hours and the packaging is a bit more sleek in my opinion. It went from a long rectangle to a square, making it more compact. The new 16 Hour Quads also give you a numbered eye look on the back that is super easy to follow to give you a jump off point or a new idea. A guide like this was not included with the old ColorStay eye shadows on the actual packaging, only on the outer packaging that you would throw away. There are written instruction and guidelines on the old eyeshadow quads (see pictures comparing below) but it's a lot easier to follow with a numbered picture! The only other difference is that the old quad came with two sponge tip applicators, one small and one regular. The new ones come with one regular sized, doubled-ended sponge-tip applicator. I always use these applicators that come with these types of quads and pallets, mainly for lid color and also for highlight. Also, it's worth noting that both the new and old quads have the same amount of product, with 0.16 oz/ 4.8g.

Here is an old ColorStay quad (in 10 Berry Bloom) compared to a new one.

These are the two new one's that I have. (View from the back)

515 Adventurous

These are super pigmented! I am so impressed! These four colors go perfectly together and remind me of the forest. Also, There's a matte brown, two metallic shades (the green and bronze) and the light almost white highlight color has hints of yellow in it, it's a multidimensional shade! These are going to be way more than what you see in the pallet, you have to swatch them and wear them to really appreciate them!

The deep forest green is also multidimensional with some gold undertones. Here you can see both the yellow/gold in the light and green shades!

In the above picture I used 515 Adventurous
as it suggested by the picture, just without shade 4.
510 Precocious

The lower right plum shade or number 4 as it's labeled on the back picture, has small purple/blue shimmer in it that I almost didn't notice until I looked at these pictures again! Also, I'm happy to report, they show up on a swatch! Just wait and see!

The top color, 1st swatch, also, color number 1, is a light silver. I'm glad it's not a super shiny silver because I wouldn't use that as a highlight, nor much else for that matter. Color 2 is a metallic charcoal shade that's really nice. I'm kind of disappointed in how the 3rd swatch, also number 3, shows up on my skin, it's a really nice shimmery pink beige. It is pigmented and will be a nice light lid color, but it's just that it's basically my skin tone.

Look at the right swatch! There's little purple shimmer in there! Super unexpected and pretty!

Overall I'm really happy with the two I picked up and plan to possibly get a couple more during this sale if I see some unique ones. Have you picked up any of these or have any on your wish list?
