DIY OOTD @ Yankee Stadium!

Today I wanted to show you a super easy way to make a plain crew neck t-shirt into a one of a kind off the shoulder cute t-shirt! It's super easy, inexpensive and I did it with a Yankee shirt because I was going to a Yankee game but clearly this could work for any shirt you have lying around.

First, I went out and bought a new shirt. Now if you know me at all you would know I don't need any new Yankee clothing for the rest of my life, however I don't want to chop up what I have and I usually buy something new for the game so I went shopping!  If you are going to a game and are going to do this I suggest doing what I did which was head to the clearance rack. I went to Dicks and they had a pretty good selection, I ended up buying more than just this actually. But, this way you're not spending a lot of money on something you're cutting up, especially since Major League sporting goods stuff can be pricey. You could also try TJ Maxx or some place like that.

Anyway, I also suggest getting either a size or two up from what you usually wear sine your going to wear it off the shoulder and you want it to be a little baggy. You can also go into the kids section and get a bigger size there, which could also save money. I think mine is a kids because it's a large and it fits pretty perfectly with the bagginess and I'm usually a small.

Now, here's how to do it. Basically all you'll need is the shirt and a pair of scissors. Now, I'm sure there are actual fabric cutting scissors and if you have them, then great, but it's really not necessary to go out and buy them just for this. If you're using regular scissors, it may be helpful to have a smaller pair with you as well for when you're done to clean up the edges, but again, only if you have them available.

Here's the shirt before.

This is how I made my first cut. I stuck the scissors directly below the ribbing and cut all the way around. Don't worry about it being perfect because you're going to cut a lot farther down but this is just the first cut as a guideline.

So, that's what you get after you take off the neck.

Then I went ahead and went lower, right above the triangle, made another cut, went all around again and cut more off.

Now, after this cut was complete I tried it on to see how it looked and where it feel. It still wasn't where I liked it so I did one more cut and cut below the triangle, all around, and that was my final cut.

Keep in mind you have have to do less or more cuts than I did, and you may want to make cuts smaller at first. It all depends on how you want to wear it and where you want it to fall. You can always cut off more, but you can't put back the fabric once you've chopped it off so take your time and try it on after each cut to see if you're done.

Here's the final product and my outfit of the day at Yankee Stadium!!

You can take a look at some of the pictures I took at the game here if you'd like!
How do you like this look? Will you guys try this? If you do send me pictures via twitter!
